Developed
for Rep Players (players must have played rep hockey in 2007/08), the High Performance Skating Camp is an elite camp designed to improve a players overall skating ability in a limited amount of time. Under the direction of NHL Skating Coach Derek Popke, mechanics covered include: stride mechanics, explosive turns, counter-balancing and effective body positioning, backwards, power initiation and developing speed with and without the puck. Over
the past year over 33 NHL Draft Picks have participated in this program including Canucks draft picks and island residents Taylor Ellington and Dan Gendur.
Though effective drill progression and instructor demonstration, the High Performace Skating Program focuses on GAME SIMULATED SKATING with and without the puck.
This is the only camp of its type offered on the island.
